Shopify payments is now supported in the UK. Woohoo! That means no more Shopify transaction fees and lower credit card rates.
Shopify Payments is Shopify's own payment gateway and until today has only been available in Canada and the US.
The rates are highly appealing.
This is absolutely fantastic compared with the rates charged by other gateways.
It's worth noting that you don't require a merchant account to use Shopify Payments, which is actually powered by Stripe in the background. From Stripe's website: "You don’t need a merchant account or gateway [with Stripe/Shopify Payments], so you can start accepting payments today." The card types you can accept in the UK are Visa, MasterCard and American Express. JCB, Discover and Diners cards are currently only supported in the US.
Shopify payments is the default for new stores, so all you need to do is pick a plan and sign up.
If you already have a Shopify store, watch this video which demonstrates what you need to do. To summarise, you need to deactivate your current payment gateway and then enable Shopify Payments by following the configuration process.
